Funding and Reimbursement Options

We can’t confirm coverage on your behalf, but many families have found support through the options below. We recommend checking directly with each provider.

Fees

Is this covered by insurance?

Sessions are not covered by OHIP, but many clients access funding through extended health benefits, provincial or federal programs and tax credits. Here are some options that may help cover our fees.

Extended Health Benefits

Many plans cover services provided by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). Check your plan for “behaviour analysis” or “applied behaviour analysis (ABA)” coverage. Please check with your insurance company for the specifics of your coverage.

HSAs

Many extended health benefit plans include a Health Spending Account (HSA). This account may cover services provided by a Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA). Check your plan for “behaviour analysis” or “applied behaviour analysis (ABA)” coverage.

Ontario Autism Program (OAP)

Families registered with the OAP may be able to use their Core Services funding for behaviour consultation and coaching. Contact your OAP coordinator for details.

Tax Credit

Fees paid to a Registered Behaviour Analyst may qualify as a medical expense for the federal Medical Expense Tax Credit. Consult a tax professional about your specific situation.

Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO)

The MNO’s Developmental Services and Support Program provides financial support to cover autism supports, parent coaching and other services for children up to age 12 who have at least one parent who is a citizen of the Métis Nation.
